FAQ for teachers & course developers

I can’t login

  • Go to https://id.openlearnity.org/logout
  • Empty the cache of your browser
  • Go to https://id.openlearnity.org/login
  • Log in with your AAI University login or Switch eduID
  • If it still doesn’t work, do the same steps in a private browser window

I don’t see a course in studio

In Studio, you can edit courses that are running and courses that are archived. If you don’t see the course you were editing before, check under "archived", maybe the course is there.

Why is my course "archived"?

When the end date of your course is in the past, your course will be archived. It is still accessible for learners who were enrolled in the course, and you can also edit the course.

Can I re-open or re-run my archived course?

  • When you change the end dates of your course (and course enrolments) it will be open again. New learners will be in the same course as the learners from before.
  • You can also create a re-run of your course, where new learners will be in a new course. You can click on "re-run" this course, or ask your admin to create a new course and export-import a copy of your archived course in this new course.

Where do I manage visibility of my course?

  • Your course can show up in several places
    • On the shared catalogue of openlearnity.org
    • On the landing page / all courses page of your institution’s course platform
    • In the dashboard of an individual learner that is enrolled in the course
    • In the "My courses" view of an individual learner enrolled in the course
  • To manage course visibility on the shared catalogue

A course will show up if you share the course information here:

  • To manage course visibility on the landing page / all courses page of your institutional course platform

A course will show up if you selected "both" in the "course visibility" under advanced settings

Can I publish my course with a Creative Commons Licence?

Yes, you choose the licence in Studio.

My course doesn’t show in the SMS catalogue

If you have filled in the course information and the required publication date is in the past, please contact us.

Where can I upload my videos?

You can upload videos on YouTube, Vimeo, Streamable, or another (free) service. Check these websites for a discussion on several video hosting services:
https://kinsta.com/blog/video-hosting/, https://www.veed.io/learn/video-hosting

Using an iFrame but the selected webpage doesn’t show

Many websites nowadays disable embedding them in iFrames, you can check that in the HTTP response header X-Frame-Options of the site. If its value is "DENY or SAMEORIGIN", then an iFrame won’t work.

I'd like to hide the discussion tab for my course

  • Download the course file and change the policy.json file to include "is_hidden": true
  • Compress the adapted course file
  • Import the new compressed course and replace the course with these new files
  • Read how to here: https://partner-support.edx.org/hc/en-us/articles/360033940314-Hiding-the-default-Discussion-page
  • When you check the course, be sure to view the course as a learner

How can I set up payments for my course

  • Reach out to our representatives (Christian Vonarburg or Annechien Helsdingen), or to our tech department (Oleg Demakov).
  • You need a contract with an online payment services provider. We support payments via SaferPay(Swiss) and Stripe(US).
  • The payment gateway has to be configured with your test and production credentials data and be controlled and managed by you.j
  • You need to set up course modes audit (no certificate), honour (if you want an unpaid certificate), and verified (with payment and possibly ID check) for the course.

How can I enrol a large group of students

  • Go to the LMS side of your course
  • Click on "Instructor" tab
  • Click on "Membership"
  • Enter the list of email addresses under the "Batch enrolment"
